北京大学大纽约地区校友会宴请国内著名经济学家

    一月六日晚,北京大学大纽约地区校友会(PKUAAGNY)在位于曼哈顿中城的哈佛俱乐部举行晚餐招待会,盛情接待前来参加一月七日上午在纽约证卷交易所举行的“2010年的中国经济”论坛的中国知名经济学家。包括北大校友及校外朋友在内近100人参加了这场别开生面的晚宴。中国常驻联合国代表团副代表刘振民大使以北大校友身份参加晚宴招待会并致词。

    现任世界银行首席经济学家兼负责发展经济学的高级副行长林毅夫、招商集团兼招商银行董事长秦晓、中国进出口银行首席经济学家王建业、清华布鲁金斯公共政策研究中心主任肖耿,协同北京大学中国经济研究中心的卢锋、姚洋、黄益平、杨壮教授和环境科学与工程学院环境管理系的徐晋涛教授等一起出席晚宴,分散在各桌与大家共进晚餐。

    自发生金融危机至今,全球经济增长速度明显放缓,国际经济环境中不确定,不稳定和不平衡因素明显增多。随着中国经济对美国经济金融乃至全球经济影响的逐渐深入,中国经济在2010年如何发展、前景如何,是中美经济学家、金融投资者深切关注的话题。因此,由美中关系全国委员会(National Committee on US China Relations)和北京大学中国经济 研究中心 (The China Center for Economic Research,CCER, Peking University )共同主办、 北京大学大纽约地区校友会协办的“2010年的中国经济”对话,于一月七日在纽约证券交易所成功举行,吸引了中美经济金融领域诸多专家和行内人员三百五十多人参加,并得到了中美主要媒体的广泛报导。

    而六日晚上的晚宴招待会则由北大纽约校友会主办,楼新跃会长代表校友会致欢迎词,除来自中国的嘉宾外,其他出席的嘉宾还包括中国常驻联合国代表团副代表刘振民大使、中国驻纽约总领馆贺斌领事,美中关系全国委员会欧伦斯会长等,并得到了大东山珠宝集团、中银国际美国公司、交通银行纽约分行以及北大数位校友以及金融界专业其他人士的赞助或支持。与会人士有机会与各位经济学家和各界朋友一起交换意见并进行了讨论。晚宴的气氛自始至终轻松愉快、生动有趣。

PKUAAGNY Held Dinner Reception in Honor of Renowned Economists from China

January 6th, Peking University Alumni Association of Greater New York (PKUAAGNY) hosted a dinner reception at Harvard Club of New York at midtown Manhattan to welcome renowned Chinese economists attending “China’s Economy in 2010: Forecast and Views” forum held on Jan 7th at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). About 100 Peking University alumni and friends participated in the event.

Dr. Justin Yifu Lin, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of World Bank, Dr. Xiao Qin, Chairman of China Merchants Group and China Merchant Bank, Jian-ye Wang, Chief Economist of China Import and Export Bank, Prof. Geng Xiao, Director of Brookings-Tsinghua Center for Public Policy at Tsinghua University, and Prof. Feng Lu, Yang Yao, Yiping Huang, John Yang from China Center for Economic Research (CCER) and Prof. Jintao Xu from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Peking University attended the dinner reception with all the participants.

Since the financial crisis, global economic growth had slowed down significantly. The global economy experienced more uncertainty, instability, and imbalance. As China’s economic power rises with an ever increased impacts on both the U.S. and the world economies, economic outlook of China in 2010 is a hot topic for both the Chinese and non-Chinese investors. National Committee on US China Relations and China Center for Economic Research (CCER) pf Peking University, brought together by PKUAAGNY, co-hosted the “Dialogue in China’s Economy in 2010” at NYSE on January 7th. The forum attracted more than 350 financial experts and professionals from China and the U.S., and received extensive press coverage by major Chinese and U.S. media.

The dinner reception on Jan 6th was hosted by PKUAAGNY and kicked off by president Daniel Lou with warm welcoming remarks, followed by a greeting speech by the honorable Ambassador Liu Zhenmin, a PKU alum and Deputy Representative of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the UN. In addition to the distinguished guests from China, PKUAAGNY also had the honor of the presence of Mr. Steven Orlins, President, National Committee on US China Relations, and Mr. Bin He, a consul from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York. The event received sponsorship and general support from Lucoral Inc, BOC International USA, China Bank of Communications New York, as well as individual PKU alumnus and friend sponsors. The participants communicated and exchanged ideas with the economists. The dinner went on and finished in a relaxing, enjoyable, and highly intellectual way.
