2012 New Year Celebration: Honor the Past and Embrace the Future

Please join us at the must-see museum designed by renowned Maya Lin and committed to reclaiming, preserving and presenting the history of Chinese people in the U.S. to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. The evening includes a reception, an award ceremony, kickoff of our alumni mentor program, musical performances, and full access to the museum's current exhibits (families are welcome).

Featured Performance: Violin Solo by Keir GoGwilt

Keir GoGwilt is a junior at Harvard University, concentrating in comparative literature. His views on music are informed by his experiences with language and literature. Keir spent his junior year of high school in China, staying with a host family, studying Mandarin and traveling through rural parts of the country. As a violinist, Keir has performed chamber and solo recitals at venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Symphony Space, the Sarasota Opera House, and Sanders Theater. In the past years he has performed concerti by Beethoven, Berg and Prokofiev. Recently, he premiered the completion of a Mozart piano trio fragment with Robert Levin. He also played the Beethoven Concerto at the Bowdoin Music Festival this summer. Upcoming concerts include solo recitals in New York and Boston featuring the music of Picker, Poulenc, and Ysaye.
